Who we are
Built on integrity, quality and audacity.
Courageous Building and Construction is a residential contractor in Frederick, Maryland — founded on the belief that courage is the cornerstone of every foundation we lay.
We take on the work other firms hedge on: the awkward roofline, the load-bearing wall in the middle of the kitchen, the deck that has to sit on a slope. Innovation, craftsmanship and unwavering dedication are not slogans here — they are the reason clients across Montgomery and Frederick County call us back for the next phase.
Drag to compare
The part you stop seeing once it's finished.
Anyone can photograph a finished roof. Drag the handle and you see what was underneath it — the decking, the flashing, the work that decides whether it lasts eight years or thirty.
Tear-off
Completed
Drag ↔
Roof replacement · full tear-off, deck inspection, ice & water shield, ridge vent
Framing
Completed
Drag ↔
Deck construction · flashed ledger, inspected footings, structural fixings throughout
Under the finish
What you see is the finish.
What makes it last is underneath.
Every stage below is inspected before the next one covers it. That order is the whole job — it is also the part no photograph of a finished house shows.

Seven trades, one accountable team.

Priced, not pitched
A real roofing estimate. No four-hour living-room presentation.
Most roofing companies send a salesperson who needs both decision-makers home and an evening of your time. We don't. You pay a flat estimate fee, we do the measurement and takeoff, and you get a written cost breakdown you can compare against anyone.
-
01
Transparent pricing
A comprehensive cost breakdown — materials, labour, disposal and contingency — itemised rather than bundled into one number.
-
02
Warranties in writing
Both material and labour warranties are stated on the estimate, not described verbally at the kitchen table.
-
03
Built to your property
Customised solutions based on your actual roof — pitch, penetrations, decking condition and ventilation — not a per-square average.
-
04
Rush option available
Need it for an insurance claim or a settlement date? Expedited estimates return in 1–2 business days for an additional fee.
How we work
Four stages. No surprises in the middle.
The disruption of a renovation is rarely the construction — it is not knowing what happens next. Every Courageous project runs the same four stages, and you know at the outset who is in your home and for how long.
Consultation
We walk the property, listen to what you actually want, and tell you honestly what it will take. If the budget and the scope don't meet, you hear it now — not at framing.
Design & estimate
Drawings, material selections and a line-item cost breakdown. You approve a fixed scope before anyone lifts a tool, and we handle the permit set.
Build
One project manager, a dated schedule, and a protected, cleaned site every evening. Change orders are priced and signed before the work happens, never after.
Walkthrough & warranty
We build the punch list with you, close it out, then hand over warranty documentation, manuals and the paperwork your insurer or future buyer will ask for.

Sustainability
A trailblazer in zero-emission construction.
Residential construction is one of the last trades to decarbonise. We decided not to wait for the code to force it.
That means battery plant instead of petrol generators on site, electric light vehicles, waste separated and diverted from landfill rather than skipped wholesale, and low-VOC materials specified as the default rather than the upgrade. It is quieter for your neighbours, cleaner for the crew, and it is the direction Maryland is heading regardless.
Our zero-emission commitmentClient feedback
Reviews, in their words.
Read every one on our Google listing — where we cannot edit or curate them.
We signed our contract to build a new deck with Courageous Building & Construction on May 29th, 2026 and Mynor and his crew arrived at Thurs., June 4th to begin work. The supplies had already arrived by this time and a dumpster was also delivered.
They worked Thursday and Friday of that work removing the old deck and starting to erect the new deck.
They returned on Tuesday, June 9th and finished the project by 3 P.M. The crew was especially clean and removed all unused material before they left.
We were (are) completely satisfied with our deck and would highly recommend Mynor and Courageous Building & Construction for our next project.
Rated 4.8 across 16 reviews, on the platform where we have no power to remove the bad ones.
Read all 16 reviewsWe had a very positive experience with Courageous Building. We had them do a number of jobs for us, including roofing and retiling two bathrooms. Throughout the process Mynor was communicative and willing to talk through our home problems and questions. We felt that he and the team were very conscientious of our space/home and cared about our experience and the longer term relationship. We are extremely happy with the end results!
Mynor and his team did a great job with our roof and maintained solid communication throughout the process.

Common questions
Before you call.
Consultations for remodeling and construction work are free. Roofing estimates carry a flat fee — $300 up to 12 squares, $400 for 13–22, $500 for 23–32, and a custom quote above that. That fee buys a full measured takeoff and an itemised written cost breakdown rather than a sales visit, and it is what allows us to skip the high-pressure in-home presentation entirely.
Two to five business days from the point your request is processed. If you are working to an insurance deadline or a settlement date, an expedited estimate is available in one to two business days for an additional rush fee — mention it on the request form.
Yes — within six hours of submitting your request. Refunds are processed back to the original payment method within five to seven business days. After that six-hour window the takeoff work has begun, you will receive the completed roofing estimate, and the deposit is non-refundable.
Yes. Decks, structural alterations, additions and new builds all require permits in Frederick and Montgomery County, and we prepare the drawings, pull the permit and meet the inspector as part of the contract. Beware of any contractor who offers to do structural work without one — the liability lands on you, not them, when you sell.
In practice: battery-electric tools and plant instead of petrol generators and compressors, waste separated on site and diverted from landfill where a stream exists for it, and low-VOC adhesives, sealants and finishes specified as standard. The direct benefit to you is a quieter, fume-free site and a home you can occupy sooner after finishing works.
Yes. Courageous Building and Construction, LLC is a licensed Maryland home improvement contractor carrying general liability and workers' compensation cover. Our MHIC number and current certificate of insurance are provided with every contract, and we are happy to send them before you sign — just ask.
